Born in Miami, raised in Jamaica by a Cuban & Chinese family — DJ GQ has been mixing the diaspora since long before the algorithm caught up. He is widely credited as a pioneer of the reggae × hip-hop blend.
By 2007 he’d already distributed 300,000+ mixtapes worldwide. The series became known as “Let Em Know” — the catchphrase lifted from a DMX sound bite that yells “GQ… let ’em know!” Twenty volumes in, it’s a signature. The tape is the show.
Hosted instalments have come from Birdman, Styles P, Pitbull and DMX. Let Em Know 17 got a USA Today nod; vol. 18 landed in Source Magazine. He’s the exclusive DJ for Kevin Lyttle and Pee Wee Kirkland and has spun for Akon, Mr. Vegas, Mr. Cheeks, Sean Paul, Elephant Man, Junior Reid and more.
Today he holds it down on Y100 Miami, iHeartRadio and Bob Marley Radio on SiriusXM, runs GQ’s Craft House, and lives out of Pompano Beach when he isn’t on a plane.
