DJ GQ, born Gary Hardie in Miami, Florida, was raised in Jamaica by his Cuban/Chinese Jamaican parents. His unique cultural heritage has profoundly influenced his music career.

Over the years, DJ GQ has forged affiliations with renowned artists such as Akon, DMX, Mr. Vegas, and Skip Marley. Since the global success of “Turn Me On,” he has been the tour DJ for Kevin Lyttle.

DJ GQ released his debut album, Is It You?, on October 9, 2020. The album quickly made waves, reaching #1 on the iTunes Reggae charts within its first two hours and climbing to #10 on the Billboard Reggae charts by its second week. He continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his performances, while also maintaining weekly nightclub residencies in South Florida.

A prominent figure in radio, DJ GQ was a part of Remix Top 30 with Hollywood Hamilton, the largest syndicated mix show broadcast in the country, broadcasted in over 100 cities via iHeart/Premiere Networks. He was the first Top 40 Mixer on Y100 and remains a staple on Y100 Miami (iHeart) with weekly mixes.

Beyond his music career, DJ GQ is dedicated to education and philanthropy. He engages with hundreds of students annually, sharing insights on careers in music, and volunteers with several organizations, including the Grammy Association, where he has served on the board as a governor. He also gives his time to community-focused initiatives, volunteering with NAMI Walks, Give Miami Day, and the For A Better Day Foundation.

DJ GQ’s talent and dedication have earned him multiple awards. Most recently, he won the 2024 Electronic Dance Music Award (EDMA) for Mixshow DJ Of The Year (Top 40 / Dance), for which he was also nominated again in 2025 & 2026.
